Being a senior, your biggest project is to have healthy aging. Our job is to make that happen for you. I will be going over ten tips to have healthy aging.
1) Healthy diet
According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, your diet should include complex carbs, lean protein, healthy fats, fruits, VB12, VD, Calcium, Potassium, and fiber. Not only do you have to have a balanced diet, but you also have to be very careful with the amount you consume. According to the National Institute of Aging, men consume 2000-2800 whereas women consume 160
0-2200.
2) Drink moderately
You could be either drinking water or alcohol. But make sure to keep it balanced. If you have a high amount of water, you will lose a good amount of salt which is bad. Although you can drink alcohol, keeping it moderate is essential to prevent any diseases from appearing.
3)Stay fit
The most important thing in staying fit is to exercise consistently.
While exercising, a hormone called endorphins is released which will have an impact on our mood.
4) Get enough sleep
By reducing any kind of stress, make sure you are giving yourself a good amount of sleep. If you are struggling with getting enough sleep, make sure you have the right mattress, do not eat late, have calming music, lessen your exposure to light, and stick to your bedtime routine.
5) Regular health screening and vaccinations
One of the most important ways to get healthy is to seek a doctor. Therefore, you should have a good follow-up with your doctor. It is good to keep your appointment on paper or a google calendar to keep yourself reminded.
6) Make your home safe
Now that you are aging, you have to be very careful not to fall or be cut. According to Cheng's group study, the elderly has less chance of recovering from fall compared to youth or adults. Therefore, working on the ceramics and materials you have in the home is essential for your safety. Here below I have included a video that goes over things that have to be done for the home safety of seniors.

7) Learn from new things
Although you have retired, it is good to use your mind. The more we use our mind the more it functions. It does not have to be super complicated problems It can be simple as working with puzzles and card games.
8) Socialize
Being stuck at home is the last thing you want to do. After having to work and raise kids, I am pretty sure you did not have the time and money to travel as much as you want. After you retire, it is about time you expand your horizon and visit different places and people which will in return give you satisfaction.
9) Engage in the internet
Although 67% of seniors have access to the internet, not many feel confident about it. I know there are some bad things that come with the internet. But it is also good to keep in mind many information can be gained through the internet. Additionally, the internet makes everything simple.
10) Cultivate a positive attitude
I know sometimes it might be frustrating to get help from others or not generate your money since you won't be working as you used to. However, having a positive attitude and just looking at it as an opportunity to care about yourself will help you live a better life.
